Empire Cinema

There is already a modest little article on the memories site about the Empire and also a feature by Paul which includes pictures of the demolition. I can now inform you that currently there are a further eight biggish colour photographs of the cinema [internal and external] showing it towards the end of its 'life' on the Internet. You can see them by inputting the Google word search below.

Ushaw Moor Empire aka Winnings bar [ when inputting capital letters are not actually needed]

Ushaw moor Moorlanders

Hi there ..stumbled upon your website after looking for ways to locate pictures of junior marching bands of the 80's and I remembered the Ushaw moor Moorlanders run by Billy Coatham.Wondered if visitors to your site could help either with photos or by visiting the following site and leaving memories on the guest book page.

They were good times and deserve celebrating !!!!

Thanks for any help or advice given....

Ushaw Moor Bus Shelters

Another Bus shelter in the village has been or is in the process of being dismantled, the shelter had been a disgrace and was in need of repair or rebuild.  A few weeks ago the shelter near Broompark had been taken down, I only hope these shelters are being replaced.

They have been targeted by local youths, being smashed and made dangerous, and were left in this state for months.
